adventures in weekending: a hidden garden, sweets and a trip to the new museum

Last week, I sat next to man on the bus and we had a conversation about weekends. How we cherish them, how we wish they wouldn't go by so quickly and how three-day weekends should be mandatory for everyone. And after taking off last Friday, thus creating my very own three-day break, I can say that I wholeheartedly agree with this concept. Although, this idea isn't new to me. This weekend just reminded me of what I'm needing in my life. We need more time for fun, play, laughing, indulgences, nature, relaxation and good surprises.

And there were many lovely surprises:

Discovering a quaint and quiet Wonderland-esque garden in the East Village. If I were a bird, this would be my happy little home.

Olive and sea salt  seems like a strange ice cream topping. But sweet and salty will never cease to amaze my taste buds.

I went to the New Museum to see the acclaimed Carsten Holler's "Experience" and was amazed by the exhibit. I felt like a lab rat, partaking in what seemed like a stream of tests: walking on the ceiling (or at least it felt like that with goggles on), riding on a beautiful, mirrored carousel and gliding down a seriously intense slide that felt like I was traveling in a time machine.

Ending the day with some of the best treats in the city at Spot Dessert Bar: pumpkin and chocolate cupcakes, salted peanut butter cookies and a highly recommended Thai iced tea float (not pictured). Mmmm...
