the perks of staying in while hurricane irene is blowing outside your door

While I was holed up in the house waiting for hurricane Irene's arrival, I found myself in productive maniac mode.  Because there was no way I was going to spend the entire weekend at home and not accomplish something. Hurricane be damned, I took back my weekend!

Stocked up on some berry SoyJoys for good ol' nonperishable snacking.

I finally got around to cleaning my makeup brushes. It's been an embarrassingly long time since I've done this. And yes, that's tape holding them to the drawer (hanging them upside-down is the only way to dry them effectively!).

I managed to make a toasted marshmallow milkshake before the power went out (for 12 very long hours). Whew, glad I got my fix just in time.

Rummaging through some old storage bins brought me back to the '90s! I found some old-school cassette tapes that I used to blast on my boombox when I first started to get into music. TLC's What About Your Friends single was my very first tape. Do you remember yours?

This huge spring cleaning (or end-of-summer cleaning?) proved to be the most therapeutic cleanse. I ended up finding bags I haven't used in years and some clothes that I knew I was never going to miss. Which meant it was time to let them go.

Caught up on some reading, one of my favorite activities, hurricane or not.

A night in isn't the same without an intense game of Scrabble (or three).

I pretty much lived in my comfy sweats all last weekend (and that's not such a bad thing).
